Webinar: Shared Sanitation and Child Health: New Evidence from the MapSan Trial

Online
May 7, 2026

Themes: Shared sanitation STICH
Countries: Global

Join us for a discussion of groundbreaking new findings from the Maputo Sanitation (MapSan) Trial, one of the most significant studies examining the health impacts of urban shared sanitation systems.

The 60-month follow-up results show that high-quality shared sanitation facilities delivered by Water & Sanitation for Urban Populations (WSUP) in Maputo significantly reduced children’s exposure to enteric pathogens. The study also found a 30% reduction in child stunting among children under five in intervention areas compared with the control group. This webinar will present the latest evidence and explore its implications for urban sanitation policy, programming, research, investment, and advocacy.
