Study on urban sanitation in the times of climate change

Project Duration August 2023- April 2024 Country Global Funder The World Bank

ARUP and WSUP Advisory have teamed to support the World Bank Group in identifying, cataloguing, and assessing the linkages between urban sanitation services and climate change, focusing on climate adaptation, and building resilience in LMICs. WSUP Advisory will apply its expertise in the development of the Policy, Institutional, Regulatory and Financing (PIRF) framework for sanitation to identify PIRF mechanisms to facilitate a climate resilient approach to urban sanitation. Activities to be undertaken include a global review and analysis of PIRF mechanisms mapped to existing World Bank definitions of PIR change and categorisation of incentivisation. The final summary report is intended to form the baseline of the World Bank’s position for further research into urban sanitation and climate change.
